ACMS Drama

"Enriching the lives of 6th-12th grade students through the performing arts."

The AC Drama Program was founded by Kara Wilson and it consists of students at both ACMS and ACHS. Sarah Grant is the current AC Drama director.   This program encourages students to explore the fundamentals of acting and elements of live theater such as set design and lighting. Students also learn to step outside their comfort zone, take risks, and work collaboratively.  Students also audition to perform in both the fall and spring play each year.

ACMS Drama Program

Fourteen ACMS students competed this pas Saturday at the statewide Middle Stage Festival in Sacramento.  Middle Stage is a competition for students in middle school to perform and compete against other middle schools in the state.  ACMS was one of more than 15 schools at the festival.  The fourteen students in attendance brought home 11 gold medals for their monologue and scene performances.  The Drama class at ACMS has been working very hard on their scenes and monologues. Their teacher, Sarah Grant, could not be more proud of their growth and confidence and skill this year.

Their next project is writing a musical with the assistance of Carla Lucero, a composer from San Francisco, with many thanks to Jan Sabo and the support received from Festival Del Sole to make it possible.  The students' musical, AfterSchock is still a work in progress, but students want to tell a story that touches on life in school, the differences and trials we all face, bullying and the acceptance of each other.  The musical performances will be May 6th and 7th at ACHS.
